Botanical Gardens with the girlies

As usual, Eli and I spent all Wednesday morning with our girl friends. On Wednesday and Saturday mornings, the Missouri Botanical Gardens are free before noon for city dwellers. I hadn't been since we had visitors last fall and I was excited to see the new spring colors. The weather was warm, the sun was out and Eli wanted to walk. It was the perfect day.

All the kids got to throw a coin in the little pond, but Eli held onto his. He works so hard to finally get a coin all to himself...the last thing he wanted to do was part with it.

We spent a lot of time inside the Climatron. There are lots of winding paths through what feels like a jungle and numerous waterfalls. It's a great place to go and escape the heat with all the water and mist. The kids loved the little bridges and the tree house which they claimed to be theirs longer than they should have. Thankfully, there weren't too many others pushing to get in.

On our way out the door, Jen literally stumbled across a little snake. Elijah wanted to touch it SO bad. I let him get close enough to say hello, but then we quickly went out the door.

The kids melted hearts as they held hands throughout the gardens. Jen and I got lots of comments from others about how cute our kids are. Of course, we soaked it up and agreed with them all.

We visited the sheep and the maze before heading home with three very tired, very hungry little people.

Even without little ones, it's difficult to see the entire gardens in one visit. Like the zoo, I've been there numerous times, but still find new things to enjoy. I know it will be our favorite place to explore this summer.
