Wrapping up summer

The trees are starting to change colors here in St. Louis and I couldn't be more excited. Fall is my absolute favorite time of the year. Honestly, I think it's the most beautiful time of year. Flowers in the Spring are pretty and all but I'm not so crazy about everyone complaining about their allergies. It just gets annoying. The weather finally warms up, beautiful flowers start appearing and people still have something to complain about. Fall however, is just perfect. You cannot possibly find anything wrong with a clear fall day. The air is crisp, the trees are colorful and you can be outside without sweating your brains off. Plus, my birthday is in early November.

Since I am convinced that fall is rapidly approaching, I thought I would do a summer wrap up. The past few weeks have been slow but nice. I feel like I know where I am now and can get around more easily by myself. We still need to find another mommy friend for me and a baby friend for Eli, but going out alone hasn't stopped us one bit. This is what we've been up to lately.

A few weeks ago, we got to see Sarah in all her glory at a soccer game. Eli loved it because he got to play with all the big kids.

Speaking of the Jensens, I have begun teaching a little French class to Vicki, Sarah and William so they can understand more of what Henry is learning at his French immersion school.

Eli and I spent an afternoon at the Zoo together. I really love that it's free. We can just drop in to say hi to the bears and apes, swing by to watch the seals catch their fish meal and head home just in time for a nap. It's the perfect outing.

A trip downtown to Citygarden. It's still warm enough for Eli to be running around in his diaper through the fountain parks.

For days when we've already been in the car, we love to just walk to our own little playground and water park. Yesterday, we actually ran into someone we knew from church! It was a wonderful feeling.

Eli watched Harold & the Purple Crayon on Hulu while I gave him his first real hair cut. His hair was so long in the back that it was approaching mullet territory. I don't mind him having long hair, in fact I really think he would be cute with long hair. BUT, I DO mind my cute little baby having a mullet. I kept the front long so that it's all kind of one length now and will grow out well.

Elijah has been keeping me very busy with all his running around and talking. Of course he isn't speaking in complete sentences yet, but he definitely says things like "mama help", "dada bye bye" and "mama all done". He says all these things without any prompting. It's so cute. He certainly wears me out but I wouldn't trade my full time job as a mother for anything in the world.
