3 is the magic number...or is it?

Eli and I went to the library to kill time while the car got worked on. We brought home School House Rock on dvd. While watching the numerous little shorts, I realized there are so many I have never seen. It was fun to watch all of my favorites, though. My all time favorite being 3 is a magic number. It's such a beautiful well written song. It starts out so quiet and sweet with hints of gospel truths. By the end, you are swaying back and forth while multiplying by three out loud.

I especially love the part about the man and the woman having a little baby. They are a happy family of three. I remember when Dan and I found out we were going to become a family of three. It was such a huge surprise to us. It took us a few days to really grasp the idea. It has been such a blessing to be a family of 3 over the last 2 years.

These days, we are nothing short of ecstatic about becoming a family of four. I am 13 1/2 weeks pregnant and we are due in late August. My job as a mother has just become more intense, more tiring, more full. I look forward to growing as a family and know that baby number two will fit right in. Eli has been practicing his big brother skills twice a week when I bring him to work with me. He is so gentle with little baby Max and loves to help me feed him. He knows to whisper while Max is sleeping and doesn't mind sharing his dowg when the baby is sad. Eli is such a joy already, it just warms my heart to imagine him with a little brother or sister to love on. I look forward to him having a play mate.

The school house rock song brought tears to my eyes today. It is somewhat sad to know that our intimate time as a family of 3 is almost over. Don't worry though, the sadness doesn't last long. It's probably just hormones anyway.
