Oktoberfest at the Zoo

Before heading to Nashville for a week, the boys and I spent a Saturday at the Zoo. The entire place was crawling with people only confirming the fact that I had been right all these years, never to visit the zoo on a weekend. It happened to be Oktoberfest, too which basically means there was live music and brats for sale at the usual concession stands. Oh, and swarms of people. The fun part about was that some of those people were our friends and we enjoyed walking the hectic paths together.

Elijah and Alaythia have a moment at the elephant fountain.

Finally, we make our way to the real elephants and got to see the new baby, too!

We spent a lot of time with the elephants are barely made it on time for the Sea Lion show which was really fun. I've wanted to see this show since we moved to St. Louis. The sea lions have always been my favorite animals to visit in the zoo. They aren't like the others, just standing around or worse, sleeping in the shadows. No, the sea lions are sure to entertain every time.

Anyways, this show was a long time coming. We go in, sit down and Lazzy starts clawing at it while crying. He was terrified of the sea lion! The way he was acting, you'd think he had some secret scary run in with a sea lion in his past. I cuddled him and fed him snacks but the boy would not settle down.

Even with a squirmy fussy babe in my arms, I was able to capture these awesome tricks on film.

It's kind of hard to see but this sea lion actually threw frisbees into the audience.

The sea lion jumped up and pulled a rope to ding a bell. It was the grand finale.

We had a great time just being together. With this being Dan's hardest semester, I am surprised we got an entire morning with him! Hopefully he will get a lot done while we are away in Nashville and we can have more "Robbins Family Fun Days"! (yeah, I actually started calling them that...won't be long before the boys start making fun of their dorky mama!)
